History of the Sandwich Islands: With an Account of the American Mission. Heavy wear to boards and leather spine, with losses at crown and heel and cracking along both hinges. Corners rounded and edges abraded. Binding remains sound and firm, likely reinforced but not recently rebacked.

Moderate to heavy foxing and staining throughout, with prior ownership markings, a Sunday school bookplate, and early pencil notations to front endpapers. Paper is toned and fragile but fully intact.

Complete, including frontispiece map and two wood-engraved plates. Bound in 1/4 black leather over marbled boards, measuring approximately 5.5 x 4 inches. Illustrated with a detailed map of the Sandwich Islands (Hawaiian Islands) opposite the title page and two striking full-page wood engravings depicting Captain Cook's death and a Hawaiian royal procession.

Final pages include a glossary of Hawaiian names. Typography is sharp and legible despite foxing, printed on thin but durable early 19th-century stock. This 1831 edition was issued by the American Sunday-School Union and reflects early American missionary and educational efforts in the Pacific. The text recounts the establishment of the American mission in the Sandwich Islands, its early challenges, and the sociopolitical structure of Hawaiian society at the time. It also includes a brief memoir of Rev. This is a scarce survival in original condition, with complete plates and text.
