This technique has already been used in a nice series of flowers of the world. Also available in our numismatic shop. It is a type of enameling.
Each field on the coin is separated with a special luthier's wire. Then the fields are filled with powdered enamel and heated at the appropriate temperature. Finally, the welds are gold-plated to prevent oxidation. This is clearly visible in the photo. An interesting short series featuring the issue of three collector coins in the shape of an ellipse as Faberge eggs.
