Some historical events are so sad that the world will remember them for many years to come. One of such events is the Titanic catastrophe that happened in 1912. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of this date, the Cook Islands have issued a coin with a glass insert that is the first in the Windows of History series. Hold it up to the light and the window becomes translucent to show the design in full splendor. 925 silver in Proof quality. A low mintage of only 1,912 of these coins were made in order to represent the date of the 1912 disaster that took place that horrible night. The front side of the coin has an image of Queen Elizabeth II. Due to the glass insert , the royal effigy is set a bit to the left. The image comes surrounded by inscriptions denoting the regent's name, Denominational Value , and the Country of Issue. The shiny glass insert symbolizes a porthole and a staircase that was installed in the first class department of Titanic. The side of the coin also has inscriptions that stand for the name of the series and the name of the historical event. This sealed coin comes with the original mint packaging , which includes a magnificent see through window styled presentation case and booklet styled Certificate of Authenticity that underlines the silver shine and provides additional information about this historical event and the coin itself.

Titanic was an Olympic-Class passenger liner owned by the White Star Line. For her time, she was the largest passenger steamship in the world. On the night of April 14, 1912, during her maiden voyage, Titanic hit an iceberg and sank two hours and forty minutes later, early on April 15, 1912.

The sinking resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people, making it one of the most deadly peacetime maritime disasters in history. The vessel began her main voyage from Southampton, England, bound for New York City on Wednesday, April 10, 1912, with Captain Edward J.
